Update on Wednesday Severe Weather

March 3, 2020

Because I think the severe weather may already be underway before I can send out an update tomorrow morning, I wanted to get some info out this afternoon. An area near the coast remains in a slight (yellow) risk area for tomorrow with a larger area in a marginal (darker green) risk area. The slight risk area coincides with a 5% tornado risk area and 15% wind and hail risk areas. We don't see hail too often right along the coast so it'll be interesting to see if this verifies.

The Day 2 outlook runs from 6am tomorrow morning until 6am Thursday morning. As of their 1130am update the SPC is expecting the worse weather from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. I think some isolated storms will come off the gulf late tonight or in the early morning hours. Also a wave of stormy weather will sweep through central and southern Alabama from the west starting around daybreak. These earlier storms are not technically part of the Day 2 event. That being said I think we need to be alert overnight and in the morning.

Stay safe.
