I hope you have enjoyed the warm and mostly dry weather (false spring), I know I have, because starting tonight an active weather pattern is beginning that will last through mid next week:
Upcoming Weather Systems
- The first system arrives tonight into tomorrow from north to south
- The second system quickly follows on Wednesday (severe weather possible), with mostly dry weather Thursday into Friday
- The third system is expected Saturday into Sunday (another round of severe weather possible)
- A fourth system is possible mid-next week, we'll see if the pattern breaks after this
Below is the GFS from polarwx.com through next Thursday to give you an idea what the pattern will look like, details and timing subject to change
Severe Weather Potential
- Possible severe weather on Wednesday, perhaps lingering into Thursday
- Another round of severe weather possible on Saturday
Day 3 (Wednesday) Severe Weather Outlook, Thursday TBD
Rainfall
- Northern Alabama and Tennessee may receive 4-6+" of rain over the next 7 days, with amounts tapering off to 1-2" towards the coast
Total Rainfall Through Thursday Morning
Total Rainfall Through the Morning of Monday the 17th
Temperature Changes
- Expect a slight dip in temps Thursday night and Friday morning
- A sharper cooldown is expected Sunday night after the weekend system
- Freezing to near freezing temperatures near the coast
- Mid 20s°F in central Alabama
- Low 20s to mid-teens in northern Alabama and Tennessee
- Short warmup Tuesday and Wednesday as the fourth system moves through mid next week
- More prolonged temperature drop expected at the end of next week through the weekend, but right now it doesn't look to get quite as cold as Monday
Winter Weather
- Low chance of winter weather in northern Alabama and Tennessee with the third and fourth systems, but this is currently not very likely
Have a good week.
Chris
