The severe weather risk has increased across the Southeast today and tonight:
Risk Levels and Affected Areas
Day 1 Outlook valid through 6 a.m. Thursday
- Enhanced Risk (Orange, Level 3/5):
- Area: North of Mobile northeast through Montgomery
- Threats: 10% chance of tornadoes (possibly EF2 or stronger), 15-30% chance of damaging winds, 5% chance of hail
- Slight Risk (Yellow):
- Area: Most of Alabama north to Birmingham, Florida Panhandle east to Destin/Crestview
- Threats: 5% chance of tornadoes, 15% chance of damaging winds
- Marginal Risk (Dark green):
- Area: North Alabama (including Huntsville), Florida Panhandle to Panama City
- Threats: 2% chance of tornadoes, 5% chance of damaging winds
Timing
- Mobile/Pensacola area: Two rounds possible
- 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (mainly isolated to an area north of Mobile)
- 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. (main round), starting and ending earlier west to east
- Central/Northern Alabama: Early afternoon to early evening start, lasting until morning, starting and ending earlier west to east
- Florida Panhandle (east of Pensacola): Late evening today to Thursday afternoon, again starting and ending earlier from west to east
Rest of today through 6 a.m. Thursday
Reports from Yesterday
- Damage reported in Pensacola area, possible tornado
- Funnel clouds/waterspouts observed in Okaloosa County, Foley (AL), and over Mobile Bay
Future Outlook
- Increasing severe weather threat for Saturday, primarily in west-central Alabama
